Napflio

Just a quick update about the phone for those who are following sequentially: we met Eleni and her husband Vassily today both are very nice people. Vassily is a lawyer and came with us to the police station to file a report. It was good as the police officer speaks little to no English. On my form, which will be translated to English by Saturday so we can pick it up then, interestingly not only do they need my name and birthday etc, and state of residence, they need the first and last name OF MY PARENTS. I feel like a teenager. Anyway Vassily is pretty sure it was a kid and since we have met all the neighbors and all have passed the word around we are hoping one of the mothers will discover the miscreant and rectify the situation. Stay tuned. Karen is predicting 3 days.
The worst issue? I CAN'T GEOCACHE! Arghhhhhhh!

Napflio:  we stayed here 2 nights. It is a larger town with a smaller old town area leaning against a hill in a harbor. Our hotel clings to the side of the hill and it was literally over 90 steps from the bottom to the breakfast patio!  It lends to a beautiful view and to boot each room was different in orientation and accommodation. One of our tour buddies (Sandy) had a room that was in part a former bakery and she had on old fireplace/oven in her room and the bed in an adorable alcove.

This town was a huge trading center and changed hands between the Ottoman and Venetians multiple times. You can really see the Italian influence in the buildings.  The massive fortress on the hill is Venetian from the early 1700's. We decided it was too hot for that brutal climb. There was some seriously good eating in this town (another post).  We also used it as a launchpad for Epidavros and Mycenae. That is next.
One side note: generally speaking Greece is quite consciously clean very little litter or debris. Athens Maybe less so but still.  People are super friendly, even if they don’t speak much English.  This more so than my experiences in France and Italy.
