We are not goats!

So we have different things we have done each day.  We usually consult Stuart's book, aka The Oracle (!!!) and make our plans accordingly.
Yesterday we wanted to see the cave.  Zeus' cave to be exact.  Given its remoteness, Libby thinks it was prior to Athena popping out of his head, and that he was trying to get away from his father.  Who knows? It was up a hill with no barriers, Karen was seriously clenching. The hike passed a nice spring in the hills, and proceeded up the hill.  Karen and I stopped at the washout, Libby went on in reconnaissance but also turned around.   No cave.  But the goats, oh yes they do roam, and we had to crane our necks and squint but Karen was able to spot one of the billy goats up on the hill.
We concluded the cave was waaaaay high up there and would have involved sturdier shoes and 4 point climbing.  Bet there was a geocache the tho .... 🤨
Today was about the marble.  For the ancient Greeks, the marble from Paros, which is just across the way, is the purest, most prized.  Naxian marble is next.  Quite famous is a gift to the 'real' Oracle of Delphi of the Sphinx of Naxos.  It’s in the museum there.  Paros is no longer mined, but evidently Naxian is.   The quarries have been mined on this island for over 2000 years. the slag pile is amazing.
Below are 2 unfinished statues in an ancient quarry. From oh, 500BC.  All are amazing to see.  Marble is so common it’s like salmon in Alaska.  They make it into aggregate. I guess the slag pile is pretty huge so it makes sense.
