Show Me The Money

Ok ok. At this point you are probably wondering when the awesome animal pics are going to happen. Fair, since we’ve been griping about flights and airports (for those of you who are angsty about Covid, this entire country’s population—53% of which lives in Windhoek—- is just a tad more than King County. And better about mask wearing and not jerks about the doing of it. Same for Johannesburg airport. Where it’s not so great? Heathrow. Good 30-40% think it’s optional)... but I digress.

At this point we have been staying sort of south east of Windhoek on a family farm— cats dogs, cattle, chickens and burros, plus a herd of Eland and 3 giraffes they rescued from a failing reserve. On our drives, we have seen quite a few animals from the car, some on private conservancies, places that boost the number of conservation acres to over 17% and help with issues like poaching. And some hunting too, all strictly controlled by the government. We are hoping to visit a reserve that does wildlife rehabilitation and rewinding of large cats and other animals, which should be pretty amazing. So more to come.

But here is what we have today, including a few birds, big and small. Ostrich and parrots, springbok and. sable and a kudu. And Gustav and Sophie.
