We finished the tour a couple days ago and got the rental car. More about driving in Sicily later. First stop was Riserva Naturale Vendicari which is on the south eastern coast and a birders paradise. It’s supposed to be a stopping over point for migratory birds. There are paths through the marshes and along the coast and all in all it was a great way to unwind from cities and historical sites.
Well, naturally there is a historic site there, a Greek Temple of course. Which at some time in the recent past was converted to a tuna processing plant. Ouch. And that is now gone but the evidence remains. We shall call it “ what not to do with a Greek temple” and move on. And 2 geocaches, naturally. It was a longer drive to our BnB in Nicosia as we took the scenic country route. Beautiful.
