Todays first stop was Segesta, a former Greek colony from Troy, the remains of which include a theater and temple. The temple was never finished however which has confused historians. The setting was gorgeous, early green crops in the surrounding farms and rolling hills. The theater is still in use, I understand.
Then to Erice, a hill town which used to have a different name but Mussolini changed it and it stayed that way. The main draw here, aside from cats for Bryce to photograph, was this confectionery shop and the owner who is renowned for her almond sweets. We had an amazing lunch and then a pastry lesson from her. She looks just like my old German teacher Frau Clausen. Same temperament too. Karen agreed. But the treats are delicious!
