Mt Cook!

 Dear Blog Readers!

Yesterday Jim and I went to Mt Cook, which is about 12,000 feet high and the tallest mountain in New Zealand.   This is where Sir Edmond Hillary came to train for his assencent of mount Everest.   It is also the beginning of the Hooker Trek which goes from the alps to the sea.  Obviously the New Zealand alps, not the ones in Europe.   Jim and I drove up the long glacial valley until we got to the base of the mountains. Then we hiked up the Hooker Track with about 2000 other tourists,  to the second swinging bridge which I could not cross.  Actually most of the tourists stopped at the first bridge.
