Stardate 5/6/18. Vancouver station. Good news we have used our advanced technology (Birgit’s iPhone as a personal hotspot) to get online and start typing. Bad news: evidently there is NO WIFI ON THE TRAIN until Toronto. However will we survive?
We shall load a quick note and then be in radio silence until Toronto. And be glad that we brought a ton of books.
We have successfully made it to Vancouver driving in lovely spring weather and having an excellent dinner in town (Fable Kitchen). Then on to the aeroporto to drop off the car, grab a taxi and head to the station. Next bad news: train is scheduled to leave at 20:30 (8:30PM) but delayed until midnight. We are all going to be way past our bedtimes to be sure.
We do not know the nature of the delay. So we are cooling our jets here and all is well. Hoping to board at 22:30.
The caravan of mildly broken Petersens has begun: Mom with a cane, Dad who is 91, Birgit with a fractured fibula in a walking boot and crutch and Karen: originally thought to be the weak link now the healthiest one in the room.
