So we arrived with barely an hour’s sleep if that but successfully muscled through largely on grit and excitement to explore. After getting a ride with Dimitri (bellhop, driver and all around Dimitri of all trades) we arrived at the hotel: just a few blocks down from the Acropolis we are perfectly situated near the Plaka and Anafiotika. Karen got a haircut (some people travel long distances for these things) and Libby and I hit the streets.
First was the Temple of Zeus. A tad bit of history it’s the largest ancient temple on mainland Greece and while begun in 6th century BC it wasn’t finished until Hadrian (Roman emperor) took it on in AD131.

Note the Corinthian columns indicative of the age.
It was originally 104 columns and a mondo statue of Zeus and an equally mondo one of Hadrian. No ego there
All that is left are 15 +1 which fell in the 1850’s in a storm
We need a real picture of Karen's haircut!!!!!!!1
