Monastery at Hosios Lukas: Mom pay attention

This post is for mom. Who would have LOVED this place. This monastery is one of the best preserved monument of Byzantine culture: our friend Hosios was one of those saints who was kinda
Like Francis and this was built in the 10th century: it was an important pilgrimage point. there ended up being 2 side by side churches and an olive press and other items associated with a monastery . There was a lot of damage over the years but it’s been lovingly restored.

 This place is as peaceful as Senanque (Mom’s favorite abbey in the Provence which is Cistercian) but a slightly different flavor.
