Birgit becomes a Greek Driver (Jo, pay attention)

So driving in Greece is an experience. People are polite and considerate but you need to have some nerves of steel. I already do Erde roads but those were the one a tour bus could drive on. Now we are on roads that are fit for ox carts or smaller in some places.
I kid you not, yesterday I had to drive down and then back up on a road so narrow we had to pull the side mirrors in to fit. And on one side was a sheer drop and on the other a stone wall.  Nerves. Of. Steel.
We break up the roads into these types: the typical 2 lane with double white stripe lines on the center. Highways, by comparison.  These are not common. Then the single stripe roads with about 1-1 1/2 car widths, more common. Then the roads where the road is a single car width and what bother with striping. And sometimes the bushes are brushing the car on both sides.  We did some of that today trying to get to a 10-11th century church in the middle of a goat pasture.
I have learned to move along with confidence on roads with blind turns, and to consider stop signs to be suggestions.

I should mention our car. A lovely red FIAT PANDA. This being the same car that Jo and I rented in the last 80's while in Great Britain. It was a cheap tiny tinny car then and it hasn’t changed. It is alternately the cute little Panda or the cheap little Fiat. The other day Karen had to get out of the car as we were on a super steep track and I couldn’t get enough acceleration to get to the top.  THIS IS NOT TO SAY SHE IS FAT.! But she also needed to stand at the top and make sure there was no car coming as I needed to shoot out onto the other road.
Other things that entertain us are what we see on the road.  Goats coming up of the cliff.  Steep steep cliffs and endless hairpin turns. There are no straight roads after all.
And then this:  as we are driving today we twice saw a large truck with loud music playing. Kind of  like the ice cream truck from the summer, right? The back is open.
In this case however what was for sale was chickens and eggs.  You cannot make this stuff up!
