Next adventure was the happenstance sightings of ostriches, warthogs, a variety of large ungulates (cannot recall variety at the moment but a heard of springbok was one) and birds abounding.
We checked into our place for the next few days (supposedly a concession since we had to leave 2 days early as British Airways cancelled our flight forcing a rebooking) and no concession! Among numerous other things there are Giraffes! Images coming tomorrow. And a ton of birds and more.
Then the bombshell: British Airways emailed to say they had cancelled our flight back to London…. Causing a temporary drama fest as we scrambled to reach them without real phone ability (imagine if we were truly in the bush??). In the end we did what had to be done: we availed ourselves of our North American Support Team (Aka Jo, who is WITHOUT A DOUBT A GODDESS) who spent hours on the phone with BA and achieved the near impossible: rebooking us via Qatar airlines and Doha to essentially match our flight schedule, at the expense of BA. I believe she missed her calling, and we are forever grateful as I know there must be a geocache in Doha I just have to find.
And let’s not dwell on leaving when we just got here for the love of Pete.
One more topic: we have seen the moons of Jupiter. The ambient light is negligible and Jim set up the tripod and spotting scope to see Jupiter and 3 of her moons, Saturn and Venus rising in the east AND the Milky Way! (Not a candy bar) here are screenshots of the phone app that shows you what you’re seeing: So. Cool.
Beautiful picture of you Bryce!!
