Starwood in Aspen

OK, there was no way we could finish this trip without using a John Denver song titled for a blog post title at least once right? Our one regret is we didn’t actually make it to Aspen as maybe there is a John Denver museum!

The last few days we have been driving along country roads in Colorado up and over the Rocky Mountain range. It is nothing short of gorgeous. The aspens are bright yellow, their trunks are white, the pines and the spruce are a deep green and the earth is a varying shade of red or maroon. People leave town and go along these roads to do leaf peeping. We passed them today I know it’s true.

By far the most stunning was the route from Mesa Verde north to Telluride. But all of it is amazing.

Called quaking aspens when the wind blows the leaves shake like sparkling yellow sequins.
