Greetings dear blog readers
Well we have been super busy and have not had time to bring you up to speed. Birgit is going to tackle the events of today and I am going to strain my memory and work on Saturday.
We left Trapini and the salt flats early in the morning and headed to Agrigento. Along the way we stopped at a tourist trap/bakery/gas station to give the bus driver - Maximo- a break and to use the rest rooms. Enough said. I bought mints.
We arrived at Agrigento about 10am and collected our local expert guide Michael and he took us first to the museum and the to the Valley of the Temples. Which is not really a valley but is a series of GREEK temples along a ridge top. Go figure. The museum was full of pottery that they had been collecting for the past 300 years or so. They had to take breaks during various wars but they have quite a large amout of stuff.
What struck me was the fact that there was so much Greek stuff here since we were in Italy. Those guys got around. Birgit will be addressing the Romans in the next blog.
Anyway we toured 4 of the 7 temples and I have had remedial instruction on uploading photos so here we go:
