So despite staff from Fiji airlines in Auckland assuring us that it was fine, evidently transferring in the airport in Fiji and never leaving the secure area is not sufficiently secure ENOUGH and you cannot buy duty free wine in Auckland and carry it through and not have it get confiscated.
So we had to leave the international transfer area with a Fiji Air escort, go through immigration (and got a STAMP in our passports, yippee!) and went to the baggage pickup as they say all the luggage comes down here. Except he was wrong and it’s somewhere in the back as it was to be transferred through to Los Angeles.
So now the escort has donned one of those high visibility vests and is searching for our luggage somewhere and we are fiddling our fingers here in baggage pickup. Hoping we are not abandoned here. It’s 86f and muggy….
Word to the wise. However we have about 3-4 more hours of layover so all is well. Here is a pic of Bryce feeding sheep at our last place on the South Island
