Boats boats boats...

We are in the Hamburg Lounge in the Hamburg Airport.  Flying Saga Class with Iceland Air has its perks.  We are headed to Iceland but need to mop up posts from Germany.

We have been hopping busy, and I just wanted to throw up a few pictures from the Travemunde port.  Turns out this is where the ferries leave for Scandinavian countries and their ferries put the Alaska ferries to shame.  They are HUGE buggers!  It is a 2 day trip to Finland and every gets a stateroom.  Birgit and I are already plotting on a ferry trip north......

They also have a little ferry in Travemunde that shuttles back and forth to a little island in the Travemunde harbor.   It is called Priwall. These little ferries look almost exactly like the Ketchikan Airport ferry.

Here are photos:

Okay. And then one more boat - when we were in the Jakobi Kirche in our wanderings through Lubeck we saw the life boat from the 4 masted sailing ship the Pamir.  This was one of the famous Flying P-Liners and the last commercial sailing ship to go around Cape Horn (this is according to Wikipedia).  She sunk in 1954 but there are still 4 of the P-Liners still around.   The Pommern, the Peking, the Padua which has been renamed and is still sailing, and the Passat, which I have a picture of, above.  Here are pictures from the memorial in the church:

Okay - nevermind - I only seem to have photos of the church bells from the Mariana Kirche that fell when the church was bombed on Easter Sunday during the last year of WWII
War is a terrible thing...
