Actually you literally cannot get to Vietnam from Seattle, gotta go through another city. Always looking to log miles with Alaska Airlines so I can get free food in their lounge, that meant Japan Airlines (JAL).
JAL flies over Tokyo and leaves from Vancouver BC with a stop in Seattle. Easy peasy right? Just get on at the Seattle stop, right? oh no. If you do it that way, it costs an extra $1500 per person. So, we do the only logical thing. Fly to Vancouver so we can fly back. Boggles the mind, but does give me opportunities to geocache in BC….and log another 200 miles.
We now sit in the lounge, awaiting step 1. This was punctuated by a panicked rushing around and drive to the bank today as I couldn’t find my debit card. Stress stress stress. Almost cancelled my card but this would have impacted other things so I held off. And voila! Found the card literally 5 minutes before leaving. This is auspicious.
